Nestled in the heart of Reno at 9251 Lemmon Dr, Hometown Café is a beloved local diner that effortlessly captures the warmth and comfort of classic American breakfast and diner fare. This charming spot specializes in hearty, home-style dishes that have earned it a reputation as one of the city’s best breakfast destinations. Whether you arrive early for a cozy morning meal or settle in for a satisfying lunch, Hometown Café delivers food that feels like a warm embrace — soulful, generously portioned, and deeply satisfying.
The menu reads like a celebration of breakfast favorites with standouts such as the Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs, a golden, crispy delight paired with perfectly cooked eggs, and the Eggs Benedict — famously praised by patrons like Salvador for being “to die for.” The hollandaise sauce here is silky and rich, enveloping poached eggs and Canadian bacon in a comforting, indulgent hug. For those craving a heartier, spice-infused start, the Breakfast Burrito or the Mexican Omelette offer bold flavors and vibrant textures, bursting with fresh ingredients.
Hometown Café’s dedication to variety shines through with offerings that appeal beyond breakfast. Their Fish and Chips provide a savory, crispy alternative, while the Philly Cheese Steak is a juicy, melted cheese-lover’s dream. Complement your meal with tempting sides like beer-battered onion rings or loaded potato skins, each bite brimming with crunch and flavor. Not to be missed, their freshly baked Cinnamon Roll drizzled in sweet glaze delights those with a penchant for the perfect balance of spice and sweetness.
Salads at Hometown Café don’t simply act as supplements but as wholesome options in their own right. The Chef Salad is a satisfying medley of mixed greens, thinly sliced ham, turkey, cheeses, and a hard-boiled egg, echoing the diner’s homestyle approach. Meanwhile, the Fiesta Salad brings a zestful punch, crowned with grilled Cajun chicken, avocado, and pico de gallo — a fresh and colorful contrast to their hearty dishes.
The atmosphere at Hometown Café is wonderfully unpretentious and inviting. Reviews like that of Tina Bell perfectly encapsulate the vibe — “wonderful down home cooking” paired with “great service and terrific prices.” The space may not boast extravagant décor, but the cozy, family-friendly environment makes every guest feel right at home. It’s a place where buzz and warmth collide; even on busy days, as noted by JP G, the staff’s friendly attentiveness and swift service turn the bustling crowd into a pleasant experience.
What truly sets Hometown Café apart is its genuine charm, where delicious, heartfelt food meets a welcoming staff and community spirit. It’s a spot that evokes memories of home-cooked meals prepared with care — a rare find nowadays. Whether you’re craving the rich indulgence of eggs Benedict, the savory comfort of biscuits and gravy, or a sweet finale like the blueberry waffle, dining here promises a moment of pure culinary comfort, marked by authenticity and a sincere smile.

Eggs Benedict to die for! This place has one of the best breakfast food in town. My table ordered these amazing Eggs Benedict and a Breakfast Burrito and they were both tasty. The Eggs Benedict have to be some of the best I have ever ordered anywhere. The chorizo con huevos is another highly recommended plate. Highly recommend if you ever visit Reno!
Wonderful down home cooking! Great service and terrific prices! Huge portions of food.. Nothing really special about the ambience in there but I was super comfortable and they are so friendly and helpful we are definitely going back.
Wonderful little family friendly eatery. It’s like having a home cooked meal the way the food tastes so good. Service and atmosphere is cozy and delightful and employees are alert and friendly. I’ve been here a few times before and have never been disappointed.
Holy molie!!!! Took my kids to eat here and the place was jumping! Busy, busy, busy. Obviously one of the local favourites! Even though it was busy, the servers and other staff were courteous and fast! We each ordered a meal and let’s me tell you, it was the best breakfast we’ve had in years! My some ordered the steak-and-eggs, grilled to perfection, my daughter ordered the French Toast and they were delectable! I ordered an omelette and it was plentiful and delicious. We left the Café feeling full to the hilt. Unfortunately, because we were so full we weren’t able to try their famous pies so, we’ll need to come back and visit again. If you are not a big eater, I’d recommend sharing a plate with your partner/loved one/friend. I also recommend you keep coming back over and over and over so you can try it all. If I lived nearby, I’d definitely be a regular. The restaurant is tastefully decorated with photos and signatures of famous and not so famous people involved with hometown cafe and the annual air races. Lots of memorabilia to keep a customer occupied while they prep and deliver one’s food.
I had really high hopes for this place but I wasn’t too impressed with the breakfast food. Service was great and atmosphere was okay. Maybe I’ll have to go back and try something else.
Really busy Saturday but super fast food was amazing we will be back
Woweeee - I was not expecting the large portions or the great brunch from this unassuming diner. We were seated right away on a Sunday at noon. Service was fast and friendly. My coffee was never cold or empty and he food was excellent! Prices are good too. A solid 5 stars!
Most amazing food! Loved my BLT with avocado! The French Toast waffles with caramel sauce were super yummy!!! Highly recommend.
